Key Points
Euphoria is related to our brain chemistry and while it’s a wonderful gift from God, fallen human beings have abused it. The devil has convinced us of untrue things:
Lie #1: Euphoria is spiritually significant, i.e. I am connecting to God in a unique way when I experience euphoria while singing Christian songs.
Lie #2: The function of the worship service is to make me experience euphoria.
Christian joy is pervasive sense of well-being in a loving God, not a glandular condition. Euphoria is a possible side effect of true worship, but it is of little lasting significance.
Worship doesn’t exist to please us. It exists to please God. The only relevant question is “Does God like our worship?”
